Techniques of Florescence lnducting and Hybrid Seed Raising of some Shy- Flowering Sugarcane Varieties in Subtropical Region

Abstract:
The present paper dealt with the florescence inducting and the hybrid seed raising of some shy- flowering sugarcane varieties i.e. Tongan Chewing Cane, Maan Chewing Cane,Mintang 7O-611 and Minxuan 703.The artificial environment of Photoperiodic treatment with blue and far-red lights was set up from December to next January in Zhangzhou. The techniques listed follow were used go induct the florescence,(1)to breed the seedlings to overwinter in greenhouse in the Autumn,(2)to begin inducting the florescence early spring next year,(3)to use the pho-toperiodic treatment of blue and far-red light,(4) to keep high humidity in the greenhouse. The results showed that the varieties had been to flower and bring some hybrid seeds under the treat-ment with the techniques.
A Review on the parental Selection of Sugarcane Sexual Hybridization from 1959 to 1989

Abstract:
There have been 217 Parental varieties imported from foreign countries to the institute in the past 31 years,from 20 new varieties. Now the varieties selected from the institute Fujian. Some advantage and shortcoming on the research work were summarized.It was also pointed out the key work on the research,such as the crossing parents in the stage of flowering, computer ap-plication and basic research,to upgrade the level of parental selection.

Abstract:
This paper presents a comprehensive review on the advances in studies on wide compat-bility of rice, including:1)concept of wide compatibility; 2) inheritance of wide compatibility;3)originals and screening of wide compatibility varieties (WCVs );4) utilization of wide compatibility to exploit intersubspecific heterosis. The discussions concerned with inheritance and improvement of wide compatibility are made as well.
Effects of “GEMARl”Liquid Fertilizer on lncreasing Rice and Vegetable Production

Abstract:
GEMARI,a lquuid fertilizer introduced from Indonesia,is a highly effective nutritional complex for increasing crop production. For rice,by spraying 500~1500 mg/kg of GEMARI liq-uid,an extra yield of 330.0~1230.0 kg/hm2 has been obtained with increase range of 7.2%~26.8% compared with spraying water as control. In field trals,the rice yield in use of GEMARI liq-uid could be raised by 10%,as much as 469.5kg/hm2,in comparison with applying equivalent chemical fertilizeres. The optimum amount of GEMARI liquid for rice is about 1000~1500 mg/kg.GEMARI also has significant effects on vegetable crops.For Chinese cabbages,water con-volvulus and leaf mustard, by spraying 750 mg/kg of GEMARI liquid,the productions increased by 18.9%~34.1%,13.7%~38.5%and 13.6%respectively,in comparison with spraying water as control,and by about 5.0 %compared with applying equivalent chemical fertilizers.
Biological Characteristics of Pseudorabies Virus(PRV)Vaccine Strain

Abstract:
The Prv vaccine(PRVFB)has been selected from PRVFA isolated from Fujian in rabbit embryo kidney cells by plague technique with low temperature mutagenesis. The TCID50 was about 107 ~108.35% of the 2kg-weight rabbits infected with 2×104 appeared strong itching, para-lytic symptom of death, few of which were tolerant.But the vaccine was umpathogenic to pig and the passages on pigs and rabbits. The tested animals living together could not be found to infect each other.The lowest liter was 105.5 TCIDso of the lyophilized vaccine prepared from the chicken embryo fibroblast cells and its immune period could be about one year.
Relationship between the phenotype of AKP and Performance in the Egg-Laying Duck

Abstract:
The relationship between the phenotype of AKP isozyme and performance was examined in 12 groups of 4 strains(A,B,C,D)of putian Black Duck. There were 6 phenotypes(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ,Ⅵ)tested. The strain A and D were characterized with egg weight strongly related to the frequency of phenotype V,While the strain B and C characterized with egg numbers highly re-lated to the frequency of phenotype Ⅳ. the frequency of phenotype V and Band 2 of AKP isozyme were positively correlated with the egg weight,negatively with the egg number.The AKP isozyme was a genetic marker to help breeding.
Research on the Concentrated Compound Feed and Additive for Dairy Cattle

Abstract:
The paper reported a new protein system of feed for dairy cattle. According to the physiological lactation periods,i. e. the lactation, the middle lactation and the later lactation period, a set of concentrated compound feed and additive (recipe A,B,C)was selected to feed the cattle, compared with that fed on the normal food. The results showed the mean milk pield, the milk fat and the mean lactoprotein content of the cattle fed in the recipe A were 5661kg/305days,3. 56% and 3. 22% respectively , 27.7%,0.37% and 0.17% more than that fed on the normal food respectively.

Abstract:
Systemic investigations orr the pathogons of outbreaks of an infectious disease in softshell turtles were carried out. 63 pure cultutes of the pathogen isolates from liver, intestine,kidney, heart and blood of 23 morbiund turtles were obtained, 45 of the isolates were identified to belong to Aeromoseas hydrophila which were gram-negative,short rod with a single polar flagillum,motile, oxidase and catalase positive,glucose fermenting and resistant to ampicillin but sensitive to a number of other antibiotics tested. The A. hydrophila was confirmed as a majar pathogen which caused an outbreaks of infectious disease in soft-shell Turtle.
Studies on Raising the Seedlings of Longan by Micro-Air-Layering Method

Abstract:
This study makes known that the new technique of raising seedlings of longan by micro-air-layering method which uses tender and short cutting without soil in the root-growing-matrix.①Two-Bud-Cutting can be employed, and the root-growing-days,the twig-tip-growing and the transplanting survival rate are neatly the same respectively as the traditional air-layering method that uses Iong cutting.②The cuttings,diameters are between 0.4cm and 0.7cm,grow roots well. And the smaller in diameter, the higher the root-growing rate.③The best root-growing-matrix is the mixture with half cotton and half degreasing cotton,and by using it the root-growing rate is 92.4%in 106 days.④The cutting,s circle wound should be treated with 400mg/kgIBA.The root-growing-rate is 92.2%in 104 days with twig tip growing at the same time.⑤After the second root growth, the seedlings of micro-air-layering can be cut from mother tree,then cultivat-ed in the nursery. Managed scientifically,the new roots can grow in 10 days and the survival rate reaches 85%and the height of seedlings can reach 80cm after one year.
Study on Prkcessing Method and Color protecting Technique of Strawberry Juice

Abstract:
Low rate of Juice extracting and discoloration were the major problem in strawberry pro-cessing. Treated with pectase,the extract of strawberry was increased by 18% and the filter effi-ciency was increased evidently. A certain concentration of Green Tea-Polyphenol(GTP)was effec-tive to protect the juice from oxidation and reduction,while the antioxidant of ascorbic acid and sodium phytase played an opposite role. The value of optical-density could be used as a measuring index in the discoloration of strawberry juice.
A New Species of Genus Hemitarsonemus from Fujian Province of China(Acari:Tarsonemidae)

Abstract:
This paper described a new species of Hemitarsonemus furculis (fig. 1 and 2) collected from Datian county,Fujian province. The typical specimens are deposited in the Institute of Plant Protection,Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. This new species is similar to H. tepidariorum Warburton,1904, but differs from it in:the stigmata openning situated beside seta v1;posterior part of apodeme 2 forked and tibia solenidion ¢2 was shorter than clavate ¢1 in adult female.Anterior end of poststernal apodeme united with apodeme 3 fromed V shape;seta c2,c1 and dorsal midian seta d was short;the inner margin of femorgenu of leg IV with a narrowly rectangle flange in adult male. Hollotype ♀,Allotype ♂, Paratype 7 ♀♀,1♂♂,18-v-1991,(Lin Jianzhen) from Pteris esquirolii Christ.
Suppression of Rice Blast Disease by Mixed Planting of High-quality Rice with Resistant Varieties

Abstract:
In this paper,the suppression of rice blast disease by mixed planting susceptible varieties of high-quality rice with resistant varieties was studied.With the mixed match I to 1,Wan 35 to Nanbaozao,86 70 to Jian 154 were compared.The disease-controlled effect of neck blast were up to 55. 13%~62.66%,and the yield increased by 11. 93%~19.87%, The examining results to iso- lates and races showed. the races ZB and ZC groups in mixed planting plot were majority,and occu-pied 79.2%,the infecting rate of isolates was decreased by 7.6%, the infecting rate of ZB13 race was reduced more than 54.45%, and the re-infecting rate of ZB13 race was lower than 20.0%. The study showed that effects of controlling blat and increasing yield were significant by using mixed planting rice varieties,because the planting practice reduced the infecting rate of isolates(or race),suppressed the reproduction of the isolates(or races)with strong pathogenicity,and thus reduced their re-infection.

Abstract:
27 diseases of turf-type bermudagrass[Cynodon dactylion(L.)Pers.〕were recorded in the paper,which were suborinated to 60 species, 31 genera. The symptoms and signs of 12 major diseases of turf-type bermudagrass were described.
