Effects of seed plumpness on germinating rate, seedling rate and growth of hybrid rice
CHEN Hui-zhe, ZHU De-feng, LIN Xian-qing, ZHANG Yu-ping
2004, 19(2): 65-67.
Abstract:
Variation in germinating rate, seedling rate and growth of the seeds with different plumpness of hybrid rice varieties Liangyoupeijiu, Xieyou7954 and Xieyou9320 was studied. The results showed that the germinating rate and the seedling rate were significantly positive correlated with seed plumpness. The lower plumpness of rice seeds was, the lower their germinating rate and seedling rate was. The germinating rate of the rice seed floating on water was 35%-68% , and the seedling rate was 36%-62%. However, the germinating rate of the seeds sinking in 1.10 gravity solution was more than 97%, and the seedling rate was more than 75%. Tiller capacity and dry matter of the seeds floating on water was lower than that of the seeds sinking in 1.10 gravity solution. Efficiency of seed selection in rice production was discussed.
Breeding of backcrossed Azolla strain MH3-1 and its application prospect
TANG Long-fei, LIU Zhong-zhu
2004, 19(2): 68-72.
Abstract:
A back-crossing trial on Azolla that using hybrid Azolla strain Rongping 1(A. filicuioides ?A. microphylla)as male parent, A. microphylla as female parent was conducted, large amount of green seedlings and some of albino seedlings were acquired. Comparing with zymographic identification, morphological observation and physiological analysis, these seedlings were conformed as hybrid progenies. Further screening was conducted by indoor and outdoor trials on adverse condition-resistance and analysis of nutrient quality. A back-crossed strain with nice agronomic character was screened from numerous green seedlings of this hybrid combination, and named as MH3-1. The applying efficiency of MH3-1 in agricultural and husbandry production were introduced, its applying prospect in the future production of organic agriculture was analyzed.
Release of Amblyseius cucumeris(Acari: Phytoseiidae)to control pest mites of moso bamboo
ZHANG Yan-xuan, JT Jie, LIN Jian-zhen, SONG Mei-guan, TONG Lu-xing, LIU Qiao-yun
2004, 19(2): 73-77.
Abstract:
The studies on releasing of Ambiyseius cucumeris Oudeman to control pest mites in moso bamboo forests of Nanping and Yongan cities where seriously damaged by mites during 1999-2002 were conducted. The result showed that the densities of Schizotetranychus nanjingensis Ma Yuan, S. bambusae Reck, Aponychus corpuzae Rimando, Aculus bambusae Kuang reduced significantly to 84.00% , 99.37% , 100.00% and 100.00% respectively. The number of predatory mites at bio-control area increased by 73.45%(1 month after releasing)and 12.18%(2 monthes after releasing)compared with those of CK. The moso bamboo grew best compared with CK.
Inhibition and nematocidal effect of plant extracts on Meloidogyne incognita
YANG Xiu-juan, HE Yu-xian, RU Xue-song, CHEN Fu-ru, RU Tong
2004, 19(2): 78-81.
Abstract:
Nematicidal effect of 53 plant extracts on the second juvenile of Meloidogyne incognita(J2)were determined , the results showed that 20 plant extracts had higher nematicidal activities against J2, in which 11 extracts could kill more than 50% of J2 in 24h, such as Tagetes erecta, Albizzia spp, Melia toosendan, Sinapis alba, etc. The inhibition effect of 24 plant extracts on eggs activities were also determined, the results showed that 23 plant extracts had inhibition on eggs hatch, such as Radix stemonae , Nerium indicum, Albizzia spp, Sinapis alba, etc, inhibition effect of Radix stemonae extract on eggs hatch was the highest, inhibition rate of eggs hatch was 96.57%;16 plant extracts had effect of killing eggs, such as Albizzia spp, Ipomoea triloba, Asarum sieboldii, Cnidium monnier, etc, in which Albizzia spp extract was the highest, egg mortility rate could reach 84.41%.
